Find Your Strength and Motivation
I recently relocated to Des Moines from Austin, Texas and I am establishing my psychotherapy practice here as a specialist in the treatment of Anorexia, Orthorexia, Bulimia, Binge Eating Disorder and related body image concerns. I am close to the Drake campus and have been working with a number of Central Iowa clients since my arrival. I’m looking forward to continuing my work with both adolescents and adults, as well as couples or families who are struggling to learn how to support a loved one with a significant eating disorder.
I hope I can be a resource and a referral source for anyone you know who may benefit from my services. I have more than 25 years in this field, beginning with a number of years working in an Inpatient/PHP/IOP eating disorder hospital program, as well as establishing and implementing a Yoga program geared toward individuals in an IOP setting, and I've enjoyed a thriving private practice for many years.
I have what I refer to as a kind of “boutique therapy practice” right now, serving clients from a private office in my home. My old yellow lab greets them at my door and makes sure they feel welcome. My goal is to create a comfortable, confidential safe place for clients to explore their relationship with food, while developing insight into their thoughts, feelings and behaviors. I have decided not to accept insurance ( since it takes an office staff to keep up with the paperwork) but I am keeping my rates reasonable and will always consider a sliding scale for those in financial situations that might compromise their ability to seek treatment.
I hope you will be in contact if you or someone you love struggles with issues related to an eating disorder. I look forward to helping you find your strength and motivation to recover fully and move into the life you were meant to experience.
